WINNIPEG Five Manitoba meat processing plants are among 24 plants across the country that are receiving funding from the federal government. On Tuesday, the federal Liberals announced $7.8 million in supports for the meat processing plants through the Emergency Processing Fund. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought on many challenges for the food processing industry, in particular for meat processing plants of all sizes, said Marie-Claude Bibeau. The hard-working women and men in this industry continue to step up to ensure Canadians have high-quality food on their plates, the minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food said in a news release. Currently a vicinity plan restricts housing projects close to the airport including the shopping mall over noise concerns. But two reports show noise levels from the airport aren’t impacting as many areas as once thought. “These reports reflect the fact noise contours have changed, said the area s city councillor Scott Gillingham. The reports commissioned by the province say changes should be made to the vicinity plan because noise from the airport is not impacting as much land as it once was.

Karen Seymour, Goldman s general counsel who helped steer the bank through the headwinds of its damaging 1MDB crisis, is leaving the firm at the end of March. Seymour was also a partner and member of the bank s management committee.
She is returning to the law firm Sullivan & Cromwell, where she will be a partner, according to a memo sent by CEO David Solomon on Wednesday.
Seymour is a veteran of Sullivan & Cromwell, having been a co-managing partner in the firm s litigation group in the past. She also spent time as a prosecutor in the Southern District of New York. Seymour began her career at Sullivan & Cromwell in 1987, according to her LinkedIn page.
